@aperez: Did you have any luck with the awesome wm problems? I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Thanks

@efzee: From the error in the post you have linked (thanks, by the way), it seems that Awesome is picking LuaJIT to work, and likely “lgi.so” has been built against Lua. In Arch we have a separate “luajit-lgi”, which works with LuaJIT instead of stock Lua. This is just a guess (as I haven't had the time to sit down and test things), but I think it should be possible to either fix Awesome to not use LuaJIT, or use a private module installation path for Torch7. I'll post a comment here when I have a better idea of what to do.

@aperez: thanks for your reply. I found some more info at the torch google groups https://groups.google.com/forum/embed/?place=forum/torch7#!topic/torch7/-4KEIKplTSk

@efzee: IIUC, Awesome uses Lua as well. It could be that this package installs some Lua module that conflicts with the name of some module from Awesome. I'll try to look into that. One option could be to install Torch7 (and its modules) in a separate path, though if possible I would prefer that the Torch7 modules stay (as they are now) in the normal Lua module search paths, to be able to use Torch modules along with other third party modules.

Has anyone tried running this with Aweseome WM? After installing torch awesome stopped working. I had to uninstall torch and reinstall awesome and everything was fixed.
