Hi. would you consider updating to the latest version (2.50)? Thanks.

The Zedonet ftp server no longer accepts connections. (According to Zedonet forums, it's been turned off, however the ftp server is still running, but asks for login details, which no customer has.) If anyone needs to download older versions, use the Zedonet archive at instead.

Installing the package doesn't automatically install desktop widgets. Running /usr/share/turboprint/lib/install-post as root installs the widget, but I'm not sure if this is safe. For example, this script copies an init script to /etc/init.d (a file, not a directory.)

Important note: before upgrading to this package, make sure any AUR helper you use does save earlier versions in /var/cache/pacman/pkg. Otherwise, if the period covered by your license key for upgrades has expired, this package will not work. In which case you may find earlier versions of turboprint here:

The listed version 2.47.1-1 is no longer available for download. The currently available version is turboprint-2.48-2.x86_64.tgz

Until the package is updated, edit the PKGBUILD during install and change

pkgver to 2.48.2

md5sum for x86_64 = 1e10ba5d88c2754b264027a0a2207d64

I won't maintain this package anymore, a new maintainer can take it. Regards.

If you encounter the "curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found ==> ERROR: Failure while downloading" error, do the following, until this package is updated: During installation say 'yes' to editing the PKGBUILD file. Change pkgver=2.40 to pkgver=2.43 and md5sums_x86_64=('775506a50c1faf6cb7b7d55312f3c3b4') to md5sums_x86_64=('c860f5335a12e4ffd5d83c4fa275b2af') That works for me.

welkie commented on 2017-06-12 21:35 (UTC)

This isn't working for me right now. I'm getting the following error message: ==> Retrieving sources... -> Found turboprint.desktop -> Found turboprint-monitor.desktop -> Found tprintdaemon.service -> Downloading turboprint-2.40-1.x86_64.tgz... % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 --:--:-- --:--:-- --:--:-- 0 curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found ==> ERROR: Failure while downloading Aborting... ==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build turboprint. I notice that manually clicking that link on this web page also 404s.

Hi, thank you for the patch. My license is not valid anymore and I won't probably use turboprint anymore. I can update the package, but somebody has to test it. Do you have a license ? Could you test the package ?

Hi rrkadio, I had a look at the file tprintdaemon.service. The file is included in the package. What you want is that the service is enabled after the installation of the package, right ?

commented on 2016-11-27 09:36 (UTC)

@rrkadio Thank you for your answer. I also answer very late. I'll have a look in about one week. At the moment I can't because I have a lot of work. Thank you for the information, I'll be able to solve the problem faster.

rrkradio commented on 2016-11-13 19:29 (UTC) (edited on 2016-11-13 19:29 (UTC) by rrkradio)

@tristelune Sorry for the delay .. i confirm that the turboprint monitor launch but don't work properly..... you need to create the following file and enable services below For systemd you need to create a service file, Create /etc/systemd/system/tprintdaemon.service with the following information [Unit] Description=TurboPrintDaemon [Service] Type=forking ExecStart=/usr/bin/tprintdaemon Restart=on-abort [Install] Then just install/start the above service file using: sudo systemctl enable tprintdaemon.service sudo systemctl start tprintdaemon.service After that the monitor works (ink levels, queue, etc) roby

commented on 2016-10-14 09:40 (UTC)

Update to version 2.40. @rrkadio:do you still have the problem ? If yes, when exactly ? I tried to start turboprint and I had no problem.

rrkradio commented on 2016-09-29 21:58 (UTC) (edited on 2016-09-29 21:59 (UTC) by rrkradio)

There is a new release 2.40-1 The problem related to "turboPrint daemon not started" is still present in your 2.39-1. The workaround [create a service as explained by whompus (2012-12-19 21:16)] works like a charm.

Finally got around to updating this! I've removed the rc.d service file from the PKGBUILD, and most people are now using systemd on Arch. Changelogs from the previous versions - 26-mar-14 - 2.33-1 - Canon PIXMA iX6820/iX6850, iP8720/iP8750 drivers added - Canon PIXMA MX472/MX475, MX532/MX535, iP2820/iP2850 drivers added - Epson Stylus NX330 driver added - Epson WorkForce WF2010W, WF2510WF drivers added - HP DesignJet T120, T520, T920, T1500, T2500 drivers added - HP DesignJet Z5200 driver added 08-jan-14 - 2.32-1 - Canon PIXMA Pro 10 driver added - problem with Canon PIXMA MG7120/MG7150 driver fixed

jhernberg commented on 2014-02-12 21:41 (UTC)

Suppose you could remove this line nowdays: install -D -m755 "${srcdir}/tprintdaemon" "${pkgdir}/etc/rc.d/tprintdaemon"

Updated and added service file.

For systemd you need to create a service file, got this info from a german site Create /etc/systemd/system/tprintdaemon.service with the following information [Unit] Description=TurboPrintDaemon [Service] Type=forking ExecStart=/usr/bin/tprintdaemon Restart=on-abort [Install] Then just install/start the above service file using: sudo systemctl enable tprintdaemon.service sudo systemctl start tprintdaemon.service

Updated and fixed.

matse commented on 2012-06-14 13:28 (UTC)

Another thing that I realized is that you get an error if you remove turboprint and don't have "/usr/bin/kbuildsycoca4" (from kdelibs) installed. Then pacman says (after pacman -Rsc turboprint): "error: command failed to execute correctly". As I said it's because of this line in your post install funcion [ -x /usr/bin/kbuildsycoca4 ] && /usr/bin/kbuildsycoca4 &>/dev/null Since kdelibs are just an optdepend of turboprint you can maybe update it that it executes this line just if "kbuildsycoca4" exists with something like test -x $(type -p kbuildsycoca4

matse commented on 2012-03-27 15:03 (UTC)

Thanks! Great work!

matse commented on 2012-02-16 12:24 (UTC)

Package works nice, thanks for your work! I have just some additions to make with which I had to cope to get my printer running: You don't seem to run the "install-post" script during the installation. I gues this script makes some essential changes (some are probably unneccesary on arch) like setting the suid bit vor "/usr/share/turboprint/lib/pipeutility". "pipeutility" creates an user folder in "/var/spool/turboprint/USERNAME", which is neccessary in order to be able to use some featuers like "manual duplex printing". Another thing is that normally "turboprint-monitor" should be started with the user login, a script which creates the neccesary .desktop files is "/usr/lib/turboprint/95turboprint_monitor", so turboprint-monitor is started in the background as soon as the user logs into a DE. So to summarize my proposals: Change you PKGBUILD so that "/usr/share/turboprint/lib/pipeutility" permissions become "4755" and write a notice that every user that wants to use turboprint should execute that pipeutility as well as executing "/usr/lib/turboprint/95turboprint_monitor".

JohnDVD commented on 2011-11-09 11:00 (UTC)

Can anyone bring turboprint 1.96.* back to work? cups seems to be downgraded. I wasn't successful with cups and libcups 1.4.8 Buying a new license sucks!

Kompilator commented on 2011-08-11 14:30 (UTC)

Since version 2.20 I can't select the print previev function in tpmonitor as normal user. As root the print preview works for me.

net147 commented on 2011-07-10 02:54 (UTC)

matse: Thanks for the feedback. I haven't used turboprint with a supported printer in several years so I can't actually verify that everything works properly myself. Feedback from actual users of this package is the only way for me to tell if all is working as it should.

matse commented on 2011-07-08 00:22 (UTC)

Thanks for the package, works flawlessly!
