@kosa

"qt.qml.typeregistration: Invalid QML element name "ViberAdsItem""
I have the same error in KDE manjaro. If you install Viber in a clean system, there is no error. You can try through virtualbox.

Between a non-working-yet-latest-version, and a working-but-stale-version I opted for the latter. I manually downgraded to viber-21.8.0.11-1 and it is now working.

Upon executing viber from the terminal I get the same (edit: very similar) errors as in the latest version, i.e.

qt.qml.typeregistration: Invalid QML element name "ViberAdsItem"; value type names should begin with a lowercase letter
qt.dbus.integration: Could not connect "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager" to "stateChanged"
qt.dbus.integration: Could not connect "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager" to "connectivityChanged"
qt.dbus.integration: Could not connect "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager" to "deviceTypeChanged"
qt.dbus.integration: Could not connect "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager" to "meteredChanged"

However the core is not being dumped.

I also get the following errors/warnings (posting it here in case it helps anyhow):

could not load multimedia backend "ffmpeg"
QtMultimedia is not currently supported on this platform or compiler.

Failed to initialize QMediaCaptureSession "Not available"

Plz add noto-fonts as dependency, or will not found font and have messed up text.

@Lenry Thanx. It is very interesting, but I will not try it, because I am actually a little bit scared of it. But thanx anyway. Maybe someone else will try it.

@fraganestis

the hungarian page offers a solution: run this command:

sudo sysctl -w kernel.apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns=0

he wrote: after this, Viber works again

@wooque this guy reports the same problem in a Debian thread, but it's in Greek.

https://www.adslgr.com/forum/threads/1255544-%CE%A4%CE%BF-thread-%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85-Debian-(v-7)?p=7613172

and this guy reports it in 06-07-2024 from Ubuntu 24.04, but it's in Hungarian.

What version of Debian do you have? This might be helpful

@fraganestis no problems on my machine with Debian 12
