Since the last tagged stable release (4.1.0) the python based ./waf build system is being deprecated. The current HEAD version uses cmake. I'd be happy to update this PKGBUILD if you don't mind adding me as a co-maintainer.

The recent update of enchant in the Arch Linux repose broke the build of xiphos. Build and install enchant1 from AUR as a workaround.

Arch Linux does not support partial updates. That means, if you downgrade one package, you need to downgrade (probably) any package that the package depends on, and you are on your own. That is the downside of a rolling release distro.

Further testing this past weekend revealed that --enable-webkit2 and having webkit2gtk 2.16.2-1 installed is the problem. Using --gtk=auto or --gtk=3 both work fine. It appears that some other packages that use webkit2gtk are also having problems though no bugs have yet been reported against webkit2gtk. I attempted down grading webkit2gtk to: webkit2gtk 2.14.5-1 which compiled fine with --enable-webkit2 but I received the following error when I tried to run it: usr/bin/xiphos: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.58: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Which was the original problem that prompted me upgrade xiphos-git. I have contacted the Xiphos people and made a custom git clone xiphos repository. After reading wscript and all of the options I made a working version using the following commands: python2 ./waf configure --prefix=/usr --debug-level=debug --gtk=3 python2 ./waf build python2 ./waf --destdir=./ --no-post-install install I will change the debug level to release which I think is a little higher than optimized. I think there may be a problem with --enable-webkit2. In reading the wscript file there is a FIXME: Find out why we still need this! dfn('WEBKIT', 1)
