Not sure how that error slipped through...

Thank you for the comment alfalfa :)

The latest package md5sum does not match the one in the PKGBUILD;

==> Validating source files with md5sums... xviewer-3.2.12.tar.gz ... FAILED ==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check! -> error downloading sources: xviewer context: exit status 1

@ion203

Indeed, it seems that my conda python was interfering with the system python. Strange, but thanks a lot for pointing that out.

It seems there is a build error when calling an import from gobject-introspection

This is not reproducible in a clean chroot build. If you're overriding the system python version or packages with some other tool, you need to disable that.

I think exempi needs to be upgraded to a hard dependency, otherwise xviewer will not start:

xviewer: error while loading shared libraries: libexempi.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This does not need libglade to build. It's deprecated and being phased out.

There are missing dependencies, see the control, configure.ac as well as the openSUSE Tumbleweed spec.

A package already provides itself, see Arch package guidelines. xviewer-git should provide and conflict with xviewer.

Improved PKGBUILD.

To support EXIF, dependency libexif would need to be added as a dependency: https://github.com/linuxmint/xviewer/issues/94#issuecomment-644566258

Ah yes, the ol' "stage a new release upstream then make downstream projects rely on that upstream change but then don't stage a new downstream release number". Looks like we're moving to release number "master.mint19"
