@robertfontaine

It is an appmenu-gtk-module package. For fixing your issue, you need to install vala-panel-appmenu-xfce-git (not release version).

Hello Package Maintainer (rillian?),

The version in AUR does not currently work with XFCE,

There is a new version in https://gitlab.com/vala-panel-project/vala-panel-appmenu that is claimed to resolve the issue. https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=18073

Is there a way of get the latest build into AUR?

Thanks, Robert

It does not work on wayland, except some vague compositor which fully support gtk-shell. And it will not help for LibreOffice, because LibreOffice does not use GTK on KDE.

@rilian When installing this on Arch with Plasma it seems to only work under X11 and not Wayland when launching LibreOffice. Running the code manually from "80-appmenu-gtk-module.sh" after logging into Plasma Wayland does not help. Any suggestions?

/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/80appmenu-gtk-module needs to be installed as /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/80appmenu-gtk-module.sh for xinitrc/Xsession to pick it up and actually source it as expected.

@Leptopoda no, because it is optional dependencies for applet, not for module. Module is only for GTK, appmenu-qt4 is not for GTK. libdbusmenu-gtk is also not needed for module, because module has nothing to do for menu, it just converts old gtkmenu format to new GDBusMenu one. It is also for applet and jayatana.

@rilian According to the readme appmenu-qt4 and libdebusmenu-* might be needed in some usecases. So shouldn't they be added as optional dependencies?

@rilian

Yes, vala-panel-appmenu-registrar-git 0.7.4.r3.g1e8791e-1.

Actually, for whatever reason, it seems to be working now. Not sure what happened. (other than Firefox cause not supported).

@NateR100

appmenu-gtk-module does not work with Firefox.

Do appmenu-registrar is installed?

I installed this on ArchLinux with XFCE4-Panel, but it doesn't display File, Edit menus etc. Only the application name (like Firefox) and clicking it shows New Window, etc.

How can I get the File, Edit and other menu items to show up?

I also get this message: (xfce4-panel:8717): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 16:15:50.181: gtk_widget_grab_default: assertion 'gtk_widget_get_can_default (widget)' failed GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such interface “com.canonical.AppMenu.Registrar” on object at path /com/canonical/AppMenu/Registrar
