FYI, Authenticator also uses this unmerged GStreamer patch: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gst-plugins-good/-/merge_requests/767

It will run but it will crash when you try to add an account.

Once again, I'm sorry but use the Flatpak package or the latest release in the authenticator non-git package. The upstream developer keeps pulling in unstable, unreleased dependencies so really do not use it, use an officially supported package, a self-hosted BitWarden or something else.

Add this before the meson command in prepare for the ones who really want to build it

sed -i '37s/zbar-rust = "0.0"/zbar-rust = { git = "https:\/\/github.com\/tytan652\/zbar-rust.git", branch = "fix_minor_version"}/' Cargo.toml

It will make cargo use a version of zbar-rust who let compile with 0.23 versions

Build error with last zbar (0.23)

--- stderr thread 'main' panicked at 'ZBar version must be no higher than 0.20'

rust is now needed as build dependency. It wont start build without rustc

I updated the package to depend on GTK4. However, yes, it won't build as @rafaelff rightfully reported.

Let me know if there are any updates on this. For now, please refrain from using the -git package or use the Flatpak/Snap versions.

gtk4 from extra repo works fine, but now the build fails with the error message ZBar version must be no higher than 0.20 because zbar-rust requires zbar <= 0.20, but Arch has 0.23.1. Reported in https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Authenticator/-/issues/219

gtk4 is in repo now

depau commented on 2020-12-23 22:44 (UTC)

gtk4 now builds but I see there are issues with the Python gobject wrapper, i.e. GTK3 apps that try to load GTK3 and obtain GTK4. This occurs at least with Solaar.

I'm not updating the package until all issues are solved and/or gtk4 is officially merged into the main repos. I do not want to pull in any dependencies that are this likely to screw up people's system.

If you wish to use Authenticator before these issues are solved, please use authenticator (non-git), modify yourself the PKGBUILD of this package (--editmenu if you use yay), or use the Flatpak/Snap versions since they should come with everything they need.

If you have any updates, please let me know.

I suggested a patch in gtk4 for updating to 4.0.0. Soon it should be fixed again.

The package won't build because of build system issues upstream. Also, the project switched to GTK4 which is not available in the repos, and the AUR version doesn't build.

Ping me if there are any updates, thanks.
