Finnally when I try to get it working from command line I get:

ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c005, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c006, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c007, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= 2282, Mode= 0, Level= 0, CmdKey= 8, Option= 0 PnlMsgActionStringAdapter Already in Table: Code= 615e, Mode= 0, Level= 0, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0

Have you tried to kill this start and start over. Strangely the first start sometimes just results in no reaction but if you kill it and try again it worked for me. Had this problem multiple times.

I cannot get this program to run on Linux First I got the popular error:

/opt/resolve/bin/resolve: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpango-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_string_free_and_steal

I read about the possible solutions:

I tried :export LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib64/libglib-2.0.so"

But now the It seems the program tries to launch, but I get this error:

I never see the welcome screen:

ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c005, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c006, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c007, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= 2282, Mode= 0, Level= 0, CmdKey= 8, Option= 0 PnlMsgActionStringAdapter Already in Table: Code= 615e, Mode= 0, Level= 0, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0

/opt/resolve/bin/resolve: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpango-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_string_free_and_steal

Finnally when I try to get it working from command line I get:

To get the activation to work, I had to run the following:

sudo chown -R <user> /opt/resolve/

Without this I just got the generic "There was an error attempting to perform the activation"

I am guessing this is because my user did not have access to write to the folder.

I am unsure if this is the best approach though as I suspect this could cause issues when I go to run an update later.

There's no need to make a symlink, you can just replace ${major_version} with ${pkgver} in the _archive_run_name in the STUDIO elif in the PKGBUILD

@FraYoshi DaVinci won't launch and your workaround worked, thanks :-)

@Bink Thanks for the workaround, helped with updating!

if anyone comes across this problem, here are the step by step instructions:

  1. download davinci-resolve-studio PKGBUILD
  2. apply minor_version and sha256sum fix
  3. try to build it with makepkg -si (error is expected)
  4. make a symlink (ln -s thing)
  5. finally, build it with makepkg -si (should be success)

Bink commented on 2023-10-13 04:40 (UTC) (edited on 2023-10-13 05:27 (UTC) by Bink)

These steps resulted in a successful build/install for me.

Updating minor_version=0 to minor_version=2 resolves the "Version mismatch" error, but it'll fail the checksum test, so that needs updating too.

The downloaded file (DaVinci_Resolve_Studio_18.6.2_Linux.zip) produces this checksum for me:

sha256sums=('87dd79401ab23f9b1027c4bc04a1954ceb80886d402ae6be5bb2805c37439f6d')

After a failed makepkg attempt, I also needed to create a symlink in src/ folder, so it found the file it was looking for.

ln -s DaVinci_Resolve_Studio_18.6.2_Linux.run DaVinci_Resolve_Studio_18.6_Linux.run

@saschabaer I started having the same issue trying to rebuild even though I had already built 18.6.0-3, I think it might be since 18.6.2 is out and the source link might not work anymore.

saschabaer commented on 2023-10-08 17:20 (UTC)

hey there,

upgrade from 18.1.2-1 to 18.6.0-3 fails.

I got the following error:

Building davinci-resolve-studio... Version mismatch

Any idea?

FraYoshi commented on 2023-10-08 06:23 (UTC)

If you get this error like me:

/opt/resolve/bin/resolve: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libpango-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_string_free_and_steal

You can solve it by preloading the linked library libglib-2.0.so by using this command before launching Resolve:

export LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib64/libglib-2.0.so"
