@nixit If you've got the studio version. The best way to get this figured out is to contact their support maybe? I've posted a report on their forum, but I don't think it'll get their attention any time soon. Anyway really appreciate you taking time to reply to my question.

@ghfujianbin, I wish I could say, I used yay to install it, and it took a while so I occupied myself with something different seeing as I spent 1 day trying to get 16 to work again.

when I returned it was installed, didn't notice any errors, and my shortcut worked.

if it helps, my system specs are: ASRock 970 Extreme4 | AMD FX 8350 | 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaw X | 180GB Corsair Force Series GS SSD | MSI GeForce GTX 960 GTX Gaming 4G 4GB

@nixit I've got a lot of permission error while trying to 'makepkg -s' DR 17 beta. Did you also encounter those while building the studio version?

kumen commented on 2020-12-12 22:41 (UTC)

@ghfujianbin same for me, except my GPU is RX850 with amdgpu-pro drivers

nixit commented on 2020-12-12 16:45 (UTC)

@ghfujianbin, that's why I ended up trying DR 17 beta, and it worked. Not sure what is causing DR 16 to no longer load.

ghfujianbin commented on 2020-12-12 15:07 (UTC)

@nixit I even tried downgrading all the software that got upgraded recently, which is not a lot and DR itself to 16.2.5. But no luck.

@ghfujianbin,

I can no longer run davinci resolve studio after the latest batch of small updates, and am too running the latest nvidia drivers. I removed all the updates that were installed, and still no dice, DRS won't load. I ended up installing davinci resolve studio beta (17.x) and it ran with no problem. Not sure what is going on but 16 no longer starts up. :(

Anyone else suddenly having crash problems on startup? I have the latest proprietary nvidia driver installed for my GTX 1060. I've been using Resolve on my machine just fine. Just started having this problem today.

Can confirm the @zeptic method works for me on a 5700XT... bit tricky with having a quadro card in the same system as davinci tries to use that even when launched without prime, but go into the program settings and select opencl and click on the card manually and restart. davinci still crashes randomly just like on cuda though so save repeatedly. The instructions should be cleaned up and posted on the wiki.

@mkono87, I had the same issue on an Nvidia Optimus laptop until I used prime-run to run the program with the gpu enabled.
