I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

✔ NOTE The "Free" Google Earth has been dropped: https://support.google.com/earth/answer/168344?hl=en

Hey. As I'm sure you know, the maintainer of google-earth (458italia) has been unresponsive to e-mail and to the flagging of his package. In 6 more days I am going to make a request to orphan his package in the AUR Mailing List (AML: http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-general/2011-November/thread.html) and this is where you step in. Would it be ok for you to become the new maintainer?

Det commented on 2011-11-22 19:10 (UTC)

6 days and I'll request this to be orphaned. Kiodo1981 might as well start maintaining it.

There was no "lastTip=NN" in my configuration and i tried adding "enableTips=false" but it did not help. I have all the optional dependencies except for "lib32-nvidia-utils" because i am running the rt kernel with the special options compiling my nvidia driver. Does that have anything to do with the problems?

<deleted-account> commented on 2011-11-14 19:36 (UTC)

i've just sent him an email, let's wait.

Det commented on 2011-11-13 18:45 (UTC)

Yeah, I'd be glad if 458italia disowned this one (or some TU did it for him), since I'm not seeing any progress here.

Det commented on 2011-11-13 18:44 (UTC)

Please just request for orphaning of the original 'google-earth' package and put the contents of this one there. After that you should remove this one. Also, I think the pkgver should be "6.1.0.5001".

please cooperate with the author of this https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=53869 and merge the two packages We do not need two different google-earth

I also had a problem with libgoogleearth_free.so on Archlinux x86_64 and a Nvidia GPU. I solved this problem by installing the optional dependencies: ttf-bitstream-vera: Fonts lib32-nss-mdns: In case the application fails to contact the servers lib32-gtk2: SCIM support lib32-nvidia-utils: 3D support for Nvidia cards lib32-catalyst-utils: 3D support for ATI/AMD cards
