This package is marked as orphan, together with
libcmrt
, what package should be used instead?fabian-ang commented on 2021-12-02 13:33 (UTC) (edited on 2021-12-02 13:34 (UTC) by fabian-ang)
I also have issues with this on a Skylake i5.
I build all three packages (this one, intel-hybrid-codec-driver and libcmrt) in a clean chroot.
But whenever i run vainfo I always get:
/usr/lib/dri/hybrid_drv_video.so init failed
Not using hybrid_drv_video.so
And also the VP9 decoding option is not showing up. Even though my CPU is supposed to be compatible.
Is anyone having any ideas how to fix that? thanks

Change these lines in PKGBUILD.
-pkgver=2.4.0 +pkgver=2.4.1
-source=(git+https://github.com/intel/intel-vaapi-driver.git#tag=d595d01d6421eae30824538fa6d150701ed077df) +source=(git+https://github.com/intel/intel-vaapi-driver.git#tag=9a1f0c64174f970a26380d4957583c71372fbb7c)

This needs xorgproto under makedepends. Without it, X11/x.h is missing if you compile in chroot.

I suggest building in a clean chroot. If you are having problems even with
libva-intel-driver
there might be an issue with your setup, make surelibva
andlibdrm
are up-to date. The only difference between this package and
libva-intel-driver
is that this builds the driver with support for wrapping theintel-hybrid-codec-driver
. This lets them both be used at once.intel-hybrid-codec-driver
contains partial acceleration for multiple combinations of iGPUs and codecs. For Haswell 8-bit HEVC/h.265 decoding is provided.Hope this is of some help

I installed this package on a laptop with Nvidia k2100m graphics and i7-4900mq CPU. It doesn't seem to work.
user@host# LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=i965 vainfo libva error: /usr/lib/dri/i965_drv_video.so init failed vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit user@host# LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=hybrid vainfo libva error: /usr/lib/dri/hybrid_drv_video.so has no function __vaDriverInit_1_0 vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit
after that I tried to remove this package and install libva-intel-driver instead, still the same error with "init failed, unknown libva..." I have libva 2.4.0-1 installed
On a side note, on a Haswell CPU like mine, what is the difference between this driver and "libva-intel-driver"? I read this is just compiled with a hybrid flag on the same source? What is the hybrid part doing? I thought libva-intel-driver is providing hardware acceleration already?

@sparsarc This driver is only useful for Haswell -> Skylake so you should instead use libva-intel-driver or intel-media-driver from the extra repo
