To install all versions of packettracer except 7.2.2, follow this guidelines: 1. Download the snapshot from this AUR. 2. Tar -zxf the packettracer.tar.gz snapshot (it creates the dir packettracer/ with the PKGBUILD on it). 3. Download the latest packettracer tarball from your Netacad account and copy it into the packettracer/ dir. 4. Create the package with the command makepkg (it creates a packettracer.pkg.tar.xz). 5. Install the package with either makepkg -i or sudo pacman -U packettracer.pkg.tar.xz.

Packettracer 7.2.2 are auto installable via run file, download it from netacad webpage and run it, you don't need this package.

@marcelobaptista THAT'S what I'm talking about! Thanks marcelobaptista!

Can't you use one of the mirrors who publicly publish PacketTracer_730_amd64.deb on internet? So it will be fully automatic, I see plenty https://duckduckgo.com/?q=PacketTracer_730_amd64.deb

And if you're afraid use the website who also are on the libre domain, and do a checksum on what's downloaded
the user more advised will use their third party URL who authorize non authenticated download and it will be WAY faster

I created a script for installing Packet Tracer 7.3.1, just run and it will do all the work. Tested with sucess on Arch Linux, Manjaro and openSUSE Tumbleweed.

My bad for my previous post. It works pretty fine by following the instructions in the pinned comment. Props to the packager and maintainer! It's not useless as donfrank says especially if you use the application for work or study. Though it's just inconvenient a bit especially for new users (I just switch to arch) because of the way cisco packages it. Thanks guys

@donfrank: The packaging is certainly not ideal in this case, but it's a result of the way cisco packages it and the way they distribute it. It is certainly not "useless" to the numerous people who use it. Or presumably to the maintainer. You are more than welcome to not use it.

@donfrank and @chef0132 Read and understand the pinned comment before you do anything else...

==> Entering fakeroot environment... ==> Starting package()... mv: target 'PKG/packettracer/pkg/packettracer/opt/packettracer/' is not a directory ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package(). Aborting...
