To install all versions of packettracer except 7.2.2, follow this guidelines: 1. Download the snapshot from this AUR. 2. Tar -zxf the packettracer.tar.gz snapshot (it creates the dir packettracer/ with the PKGBUILD on it). 3. Download the latest packettracer tarball from your Netacad account and copy it into the packettracer/ dir. 4. Create the package with the command makepkg (it creates a packettracer.pkg.tar.xz). 5. Install the package with either makepkg -i or sudo pacman -U packettracer.pkg.tar.xz.

Packettracer 7.2.2 are auto installable via run file, download it from netacad webpage and run it, you don't need this package.

The principle of a package manager is to automatize updates, if you didn't give any way to automatize this installation it's basically useless, it's just installing from Cisco with extra steps

packettracer 7.3.0-5 : as CodingKoopa said, every terminal are showing in beginning: bash: ./packettracer.sh: line 4: syntax error near unexpected token (' bash: ./packettracer.sh: line 4:if QT_VERSION > QT_VERSION_CHECK(5, 5, 0)'

Is /etc/profile.d/packettracer.sh necessary ?

Can't you use one of the mirrors who publicly publish PacketTracer_730_amd64.deb on internet? So it will be fully automatic, I see plenty https://duckduckgo.com/?q=PacketTracer_730_amd64.deb

And if you're afraid use the website who also are on the libre domain, and do a checksum on what's downloaded

Could NoDisplay=true be patched into /usr/share/applications/cisco-ptsa7.desktop? It's only for handling pttp:// URLs, so it doesn't have to show up in application menus.

I think packettracer.sh should be removed from this package.

  • PT7HOME doesn't seem to be necessary for Packet Tracer to work.
  • QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO is a deprecated variable (more info here: https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/highdpi.html). I don't really see why this variable falls within the scope of what should be set by this package anyways, though. Moreover, since the script is installed to /etc/profile.d/, this will be applied to all programs. Being deprecated, this causes a lot of warnings to be created in the system log.

I installed an older snapshot on a different system without any issue. I installed 7.3.0 on another fresh system and am getting "File Not Found" on device icons: https://ncry.pt/p/RsPn#6Xy3_ynpBaD4XMm4kLsSKuJHlfkC2KStB1pbkVtxJ4c
