httpx module not found prevents Tauon from starting up after recent pacman -Syu. Installing python-pip and pip install httpx fixes it

Having to rebuild all of Tauon's Python dependencies after a Python version update is quite annoying. Would it not make more sense to package these dependencies with the project, rather than having the end-user manually rebuild them to acquire their changes?

Due to a merge of python-pulse-control into python-pulsectl you may have to dirty-remove the former, if you get conflicts:

pacman -Rdd python-pulse-control

All AUR python packages you have need to be rebuilt.

ls -lah /usr/lib/python3.8/site-packages

This folder shouldn't exist, if it does, you need to rebuild the respective AUR packages(or you ran sudo pip...).

@yochananmarqos Okay I've pushed an update. I've now eliminated the need for python-discogs-client.

@Taiko2k: Yeah, I was guessing the locale might need an upstream change.

Speaking of upstream changes, python-discogs-client should be an optional dependency, but the program won't run without it. Also the repo states it's now depreciated.

@yochananmarqos Thanks for the feedback. I've now made changes according to most of your suggestions.

The locale directory change will require an upstream fix so ill add that in the next release cycle.

As for the bash script. Previously the python script was launched directly, but I found that some applications have trouble performing an "open with" with a python script. It also provides a convenient way to add tauon to PATH.

Some PKGBUILD critique:

  • Don't use new variables without using underscores, see Package etiquette

  • Try to keep the line length in the PKGBUILD below ~100 characters, see Package etiquette

  • isounidecode needs to be a separate package as python-isounidecode and installed properly as a Python library, not just dumped into /opt/. Nothing can find it there. Here's a PKGBUILD if you want to add it to the AUR.

  • python-pypresence should be an optional dependency.

  • The locale files should be installed properly in /usr/share/locale/. Only the .mo files need to be installed.

  • The symbolic SVG should be installed in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/symbolic/apps

  • No need to use a Bash script to run a Python script. See my PKGBUILD.
