If you want to use system's abseil set the _use_system_abseil to ON - default is to download from internet during build.

@marmistrz regarding unused language support; right now this package will enable all features/languages available. I may, or someone else can, fork this package enabling only specific features (such as those available through clang, or only js/ts or similar). At the very least I will try to make it apparent what to remove from the current script to disable language, but I have no ETA on this.

@marmistrz I guess I should add a readme or something; you need to add the ubuntu packagers public (gpg) key for clang/llvm package verification. Something like this, but please check yourself: gpg --recv-keys 0fc3042e345ad05d

Cannot install YCM: ==> Verifying source file signatures with gpg... clang+llvm-3.7.0-x86_64-linux-gnu-ubuntu-14.04.tar.xz ... FAILED (unknown public key 0FC3042E345AD05D) Besides, is it possible to make go, cargo, rust optdepends? I don't program in them, and I'd rather avoid polling 330 MB of my disk space for these packags.

@eberan yup, this fixes it. Thanks for the tech support! :) Note the "can't translate pathname" issue I mentioned still persists.

@oryband It looks like the PR was merged; did it fix your issue?

UPDATE: PR is here, waiting for it to be merged: https://github.com/Valloric/YouCompleteMe/pull/2037 @ebearn i've started seeing similar issues upstream: https://github.com/Valloric/YouCompleteMe/issues/2036 EDIT: notice the easy reproducible steps there: 1. let g:ycm_seed_identifiers_with_syntax = 1 2. open vim 3. `:setf git` I'm using to machines regularly, and after upgrading the second one today I've started seeing the same errors too (the unicode error and the pacakging errors in the other message i wrote). I'm using latest zsh, vim, both machines use ext4. Nothing extraordinary that I can think of. File system is ext4 on both. My .vimrc is here, nothing special there: https://github.com/oryband/dotvim/blob/master/.vimrc I think this has something to do with the new python 3 support, and not something specific to Arch.

@oryband Interesting, I wonder if anyone else is seeing this issue. Try disabling other vim plugins you might have enabled? Maybe try with an otherwise vanilla vimrc? Ensure your other AUR packages are up-to-date. Your packaging issue is really strange; I can't remember if makepkg always uses the same shell or uses the user/current shell; maybe that has some effect, what shell are you using? I doubt that filesystems would be an issue, but what fs is this on?

oryband commented on 2016-03-09 13:39 (UTC)

@eberan This happens without using a virtualenv and happens randomly when `git commit`ing stuff, which causes Vim to open in a gitcommit buffer. I'll try building it manually. If you have any other suggestion I'd be happy to hear.

eberan commented on 2016-03-08 23:15 (UTC)

@oryband I'm not seeing the packaging error. I'm also not getting your git commit errors; I get one error in the log when the server starts up but it doesn't seem to effect anything. Perhaps something in your (virtual) environment is disagreeing with ycmd? It would be interesting to see if you get the runtime errors with a non-packaged build of ycmd (i.e. clone and build into install location as per upstream installation guide). If it is reproducible we can push it upstream, assuming they support such an environment.
