Attention: It requires SSE3!

There is also waterfox-g-kpe package with LTO+PGO and SSE2 support and langpacks on my repository on OBS.

Source files at: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:hawkeye116477:waterfox/waterfox-g-kpe.

[home_hawkeye116477_waterfox_Arch]
Server = https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/hawkeye116477:/waterfox/Arch/$arch

If you got 404, then temporarily try to replace download.opensuse.org with downloadcontent.opensuse.org. That should enforce direct download without mirror.

key=$(curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:hawkeye116477:waterfox/Arch/$(uname -m)/home_hawkeye116477_waterfox_Arch.key)
fingerprint=$(gpg --quiet --with-colons --import-options show-only --import --fingerprint <<< "${key}" | awk -F: '$1 == "fpr" { print $10 }')

pacman-key --init
pacman-key --add - <<< "${key}"
pacman-key --lsign-key "${fingerprint}"

Update 2020.02 is on hold until the shared library libc++.so.1 is (hopefully) statically linked - see the relevant GitHub issue.

For those who want the update right away, the patch for the PKGBUILD is available here. Make sure to install the libc++ package.

@Austcool addressed in 2019.10-3.

Please let me know if it works as intended (I don't use the desktop entry at all on my machines).

Please change Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/waterfox-current-icon.png Icon=waterfox-current-icon so themes can change the icon thanks.

Note that the package was reverted to 68.0b1 in accordance with the upstream release. The reason being bugs related to addons as well as security issues. The new update is expected next week: see @Waterfoxproject's tweet for more details.

This downgrade will not be triggered as an 'update' by AUR helpers, as some might prefer to stay on 2019.10 despite these issues. If you want to disable the annoying update notification in Waterfox, please do the following:

  • Go to about:config
  • Find app.update.doorhanger and set it to false

The new update changes the naming scheme to YYYY.MM.X where

YYYY = Current year
MM = Current month
X = Hotfix

As always for Netflix and similar:

If upgrading from previous versions of Waterfox, you will be asked to re-enable DRM.
After re-enabling, please allow time for the new plugins to update.
You may need to restart Waterfox after the new plugins have been installed to get DRM to work.
You can verify your plugins by entering about:plugins in the address bar.

For more information, please see the latest blog entry.

@polyzen: The ´waterfox-bin´ package should ideally be called ´waterfox-classic-bin´ in accordance with https://www.waterfox.net/releases/.

For now Waterfox "Classic" is still the default download upstream, and Waterfox "Current" is the latest beta version (which for some reason is now called "Current" even though it's not default and technically a beta - it's all rather confusing).
