Should gnome-control-center not be added to the list of dependencies? Installing it was the only way I could get the settings to open.

Update build() and prepare() functions too, now you can use autogen.sh script

Just an FYI if you are having problems building Budgie or you encounter bugs in Budgie you should submit them to the projects github (https://github.com/evolve-os/budgie-desktop). Budgie is under very active development and might provide fixes or answers to your issues.

No luck with LightDM. Both ~/.xinitrc and ~/.xprofile are left blank; I am able to choose between Xfce, LXDE, Openbox and Budgie but only the first three can run: Budgie crashes just after the bar appears. Obviously I deleted SLiM and its dependencies before installing LightDM. I'll move my issue to a forum thread as soon as I have time so I don't pollute the comments section: thank you for your help and sorry for the trouble!
