When reporting this package as outdated make sure there is indeed a new version for Linux Desktop. You can have a look at the "Stable updates" tag in Release blog for this.

You can also run this command to obtain the version string for the latest chrome version:

$ curl -sSf https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/dists/stable/main/binary-amd64/Packages | \
     grep -A1 "Package: google-chrome-stable" | \
     awk '/Version/{print $2}' | \
     cut -d '-' -f1

Do not report updates for ChromeOS, Android or other platforms stable versions as updates here.

@mityukov Maybe your graphics driver at fault. Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration? There are also ways to go back to flash if that does not help. Just google it.

When trying to watch video with HTML5 player (it's by default for YouTube videos and I don't know how to turn it to Flash), the page gets "Aw Snap!" at the very first second.. Are there any packages (codecs/etc.) I should check/install on my system? P.S.: I've started getting this problem no longer than a month ago.

Then it's a _B_rackets bug and for me to hardcode a symlink would make the Chrome packages conflict with each other again after Google just separated them.

If you use brackets on your system, you will see an error when trying to use Live Preview feature. You must run command: sudo ln -s '/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable' '/usr/bin/google-chrome' to fix this error. It's also similar to other Google Chrome 's channel. @Det: I hope you to add this command to the package.

Calm down already. I have all these things in my own scripts directory and that's where 'msg2' was picked up instead, which made me think it wasn't necessary to define it in the .install. Turns out it is, so I've reverted it to 'msg_blue', which is more consistent with 'note'. All your cache commands were working okay. The printf() function changes wouldn't affect them because they are basically just separate echoes.

neither msg2 nor msg_blue work so I guess the available commands in the makepkg system may have changed?

previously in the file google-chrome.install where the two lines had msg2 they used to have msg_blue.
