Don't see how a change in the headers could affect an already-compiled application.

I also downgraded gcc, gcc-libs, and llvm-libs.

@bickman2k how did you downgrade it ?

I couldn't do it with pacman -U glibc-2.35-6-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst from the cache

so I went with the pacman -Syyuu after editing pacman 's mirrorlist to arch back in time

Downgrading just glibc (and lib32-glibc in my case) to 2.35 allowed me to run this version again.

I got my makemkv working again by rolling back the distro using this method: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_Linux_Archive#How_to_restore_all_my_packages_at_a_specific_date

hope this helps! <3 ;)

Unfortunately, this is partially closed-source, so there's not much anyone can do about it until it gets fixed upstream. I did report it on the official forums, so the author is aware.

Sadly I can confirm this. The AUR version does not work on Gnome, while snap does. However the snap version does have other issues for me. Is there any know workaround to compile this / use the aur version?

I can also confirm that makemkv shows a segfault in dmesg upon startup.

As a workaround, I installed it as a snap, and it works. But I'd much rather have it installed natively, as I had to install the snapd daemon just for this.

I can confirm. Even rebuilding against the new glibc version doesn’t prevent the program from crashing at startup.
