ArchLinux Pi-hole is not officially supported by Pi-hole project. In case of bugs and malfunctions please DO NOT file a report upstream.

First of all check if the wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pi-hole) can help then ask here for assistance and tips.
When it will be excluded that the problem does not depend on ArchLinux we will file a bug upstream.

@max.bra - I believe it's once/min or 60 times per hour. Still, 1,440 writes in a 24 hour period is the theoretical max. That will add up over time for sure...

where have you see a commit on every query/request?

@graysky yeah it is kinda horrible for an sd card system, but its hardcoded in the admin interface so this change must be done over there too. But as its the same maintainer this seems to be alright.

Keep in mind that this database is responsible for the long term data storage though, so the wiki might need an update.

graysky commented on 2017-12-11 20:48 (UTC)

@MartB - OK! This file (/etc/pihole/pihole-FTL.db) has never existed for me until changing ownership of /etc/pihole as you suggested.

@MaxBra - This file seems to be updated each time a new DNS entry is resolved which could be horrible for SD Card based system (raspberry pi for example). Can we relocate this file to tmpfs by modifying one of the upstream provided files as we do for the log files?

MartB commented on 2017-12-11 20:44 (UTC)

@graysky Getting it from /run/log/pihole-ftl/pihole-FTL.log

graysky commented on 2017-12-11 20:43 (UTC)

@MartB - Interesting... I have no such file. What are you getting that log output?

MartB commented on 2017-12-11 20:40 (UTC) (edited on 2017-12-11 20:41 (UTC) by MartB)

@graysky

(1) /etc/pihole/pihole-FTL.db
(2) pihole ftl does it automatically i guess ?

@MartB - To be clear 1) What is the database file (full path and file name)? 2) How are you creating the database (ie running a command or ...)? Thanks!

MartB commented on 2017-12-11 20:34 (UTC)

@graysky Yeah but now it cant create the database, it errors out. I fixed it by chowning it to pihole

graysky commented on 2017-12-11 20:33 (UTC)

@MartB - I believe /etc/pihole was root:root under 2.11.x as well as the files within it.
