abdulocracy: Done, but since AUR uses git, it is always possible to go back to an old version of this AUR package if you want.
Please remove my out-of-date flag. I've tested 0.4.0 and it forces you to use their VPN, otherwise doesn't stream, and there is no working option to remove this behavior. Please don't update the package to the latest version.
Edit: It seems disabling the "Enable VPN" option in the settings allows you to watch without the VPN, your call.
Looks like upstream URL is now https://popcorntime.app/
Sorry, I should have looked more closely … dependencies added back.
@buzo, not sure why, but someone might need it... But as I indicated, and @eMyller already confirmed, getting rid of gconf is not possible at this point for the binary provided by popcorntime.sh. If re-built from sources without gconf it does work though, which confirms the SW itself doesn't depend on gconf, it's just that the binary was originally built with gconf... So for now gconf is not optional. But perhaps insisting upstream for a new binary is a good idea, though it hadn't released a binary since 2016...
@buzo Removing gconf as a dependency breaks popcorntime-bin:
popcorntime: error while loading shared libraries: libgconf-2.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
We have to either keep gconf (that's the solution for today's problem) or have Popcorn Time not depend on its libraries on its source code (ideal).
Thanks je-vv. I have removed dependencies to gconf and gtk2. Or what would be a good reason to keep it an optional dependency?
Is it possible to make gconf an "optional" dependency? It has been dropped from Arch, and if popcorntime doesn't really depend on it, I'd like to get rid of gconf as Arch has done it (and avoid installing its deps either). BTW, I tried installing removing gconf as a dep, and not having gconf in the box, and it seems the binary just fails by not finding gcong, not sure if it can be asked upstream to generate a non gconf dependent binary, since I just built the non binary popcorntime from AUR, removing the gconf dep, and it built and worked just fine. Thanks !
