@Psithurisma It shouldn't, RPCS3 uses its own internal submodule for cubeb and there is no way to make it use the system one without patching the build system.

Psithurisma commented on 2023-03-23 03:14 (UTC)

The cubeb package should be added as a make dependency.

You should add doxygen and valgrind as makedepends.

It seems that this package is building with only one thread, even with GNUMAKEFLAGS=-j8 and MAKEFLAGS=-j8 set in the environment. However PKGBUILD doesn't seem to specify anything about parallel building. I wonder where the problem is.

AUR helpers have certain criteria for checking Git repositories for updates. Some of them may not know a VCS package has been updated unless the PKGBUILD itself has been updated, whereas some of them also query the sources listed in the package and/or subscribe to them, and check those periodically. They may not check them every time you run -Syu, to lighten the load on all those repository sites.

@Score_Under I understand how -git packages work, I am just wondering about the versioning because this packages was updates on 7th of November, even though the latest build is from yesterday (22nd November) - Build 0.0.25-14388

@Smokus this is a VCS package, meaning it automatically reaches for the latest git commit and the version number provided for reference in the AUR web interface may not be accurate to what actually gets installed. Put another way, there is something of an expectation that these packages may break from time to time.

If that behaviour is undesirable, you can instead grab a different package like rpcs3-bin which seems to be manually updated to point to binaries hosted on the official github releases page.

Mind sharing under what criteria do you decide to update the version of the package?

According to RPCS3'S GH release page, they say the following:

These are NOT stable builds. RPCS3 is a rolling release software without stable builds. These are random tags we do from time to time. Do NOT use the branch from these tags to package RPCS3.

Yeah, git -c protocol.file.allow=always submodule update is the correct way
