@stormdragon2976: Yes, it was. I fail to understand why though.

@ph34rb0t: I think Pico was removed in the latest release of speech-dispatcher.

Just a note: Cmcaine's fork is the only Speech Dispatcher release that works with the svox-pico-bin package for me, using "pico" as the DefaultModule.

Problems with the PKGBUILD:

  1. It needs to provide and conflict with libspeechd (installing when speech-dispatcher from comunity is installed causes a filesystem conflict error).

  2. It needs to depend on dotconf, not just makedepend. That way makepkg -r works properly.

/usr/bin/spd-conf won't run

The fix is related to the python version.

Install: python2-speechd

vim /usr/bin/spd-conf From: #!/usr/bin/env python3 To: #!/usr/bin/env python2

Updated PKGBUILD to support automatic version number from git and changed dependency from python 2.7 to python 3.

There are come commented items in the PKGBUILD that can be used to run speechd as a central service.

I also have had the same error while building. The new sonic support is a must have. Current speech rates are so slow, even at max speed.
