This now depends on libavcodec.so so when it needs to be rebuilded against new ffmpeg version you are forced to uninstall first otherwise the update will be blocked

I can confirm that a manual sudo modprobe sg was necessary to get makepkg to detect my DVD drive.

@FabioLoix How would one rebuild the package? I have tried reinstalling but no avail I get the NO_ANSWER_FROM_MAKEMKVCON error still

Edit: found out and this line fixed it paru --rebuild makemkv

1-2

@jaja27 You just have to rebuild the makemkv package.

When I try to launch makemkv, the GUI gives the error : "Failed to initialized: NO_ANSWER_FROM_MAKEMKVCON". When launching from the terminal, I get the error "/usr/bin/makemkvcon: error while loading shared libraries: libavcodec.so.61: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". I guess the last update of ffmpeg broke something...

@FabioLolix Apologies. My mistake.

@skolenich makemkv is already at v1.18.2

Any word on when this package will get the update to version 1.18.2? I'm getting a message that the package is outdated when I attempt to run from command line now. Appreciate the support for this package on Arch!

To echo @glenjo I have found that downgrading to 1.17.7 is needed otherwise it just sits there in an infinite loop. (in addition to enabling sg module)

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/makemkv.git && cd makemkv
git checkout 352178f96
vim PKGBUILD

edit line 17 & 18 to add /old/ to the URL like so:

source=(${url}/download/old/${pkgname}-bin-${pkgver}.tar.gz
        ${url}/download/old/${pkgname}-oss-${pkgver}.tar.gz

then do your makepkg --install shenanigans

per this forum post for this version, the developer recommends launching MakeMKV the first time without a disc inserted.

@Felensis, look to the wiki. Arch's wiki is very good.
