In case of changes/updates to ppp, you will need to re-run chmod -v u+s /usr/sbin/pppd.

Source: source_x86_64=("NetExtender-${pkgver}.x86_64.tgz::https://software.sonicwall.com/NetExtender/NetExtender.Linux-${pkgver}.x86_64.tgz"

is better then the link to a unversioned demo version in my opinion

817 is out, but the 817 version posted at the URL listed in sources is exactly the same as 816. The version on MySonicWALL is different and matches the md5sum they post there.

@EarthMind - yes, I'm getting errors with Sectigo certs also. I thought it was just me. None of my browsers take issues hitting the same URLs either.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Ok, fair enough. Looks like java-runtime is a tiny package and only includes policytool and a few libraries: libjsound, libjsoundalsa and libsplashscreen. Everything else is provided by its dependency on jre8-openjdk-headless. But I agree, it makes more sense to depend on the non-headless version, in case the GUI components get moved from '-headless' to jre8-openjdk.

Re: net-tools, okay. NetExtender works fine for me without it, but yes there could be other SSL VPN set-ups where it is required, and it's difficult to test every case on a single set-up.

If it uses Java for its GUI, then it doesn't make sense that it works without the full java-runtime, and just the headless version. Are you sure you don't have another version of OpenJDK or some other provider installed?

net-tools was already a dependency when I inherited this repo, and I never really checked. Maybe there is something in netExtender that assumes the existence of one of the tools. I don't want to remove it and risk breaking some corner-case functionality.

Hi, does this actually need java-runtime and net-tools as dependencies? I've just removed both from the depends lists, installed and both the GUI and the CLI seem to run fine.

Instead of java-runtime, I've got java-runtime-common and jre8-openjdk-headless installed, so I guess java-runtime-common suffices on its own?

Not sure what is required from net-tools, but netextender seems to run fine without it?

I'm experiencing slow throughput to my company's VPN -- stuck at 500kB/s but my bandwidth is much greater than that. Co-workers with the Windows client not having similar issues -- anyone else experiencing this? Tried setting the MTU when I launch the VPN but that doesn't seem to help. Is there something I'm missing with pppd configuration for instance?

Hah, it was down for a couple days (I have the GitHub Actions logs to prove it!) but it's now up -- apparently it just needed me to leave a comment here for it to come back up and make me look silly. Thanks! :)
