well, the download went down and wasn't even serving the most up to date version anyway. Screw it, I'll just serve some files.

Okay, I've found a publicly accessible link from sonicwall's demo page. I've also found version 8 but I'm not sure where I had found it or whether it was publicly accessible.
I want to bring the attention of the .install file's new behavior: In order to work, netExtender -i needs to run. So after install, it will do just that. I don't know what it does other than "edit pppd script to automatically add route to sslvpn." The man page doesn't mention -i.
What concerns me is that it changes system files without reverting the change unless the binary uninstaller is run. I'll try to look more into it in the future.

I'll get to updating it soon. I've got a PKGBUILD all ready but I haven't been able to find time to reboot our sonicwall yet! Once the SSL VPN is implemented I'll test my package out and upload it.
Also, anyone interested in public files, please do annoy Dell with feedback - it's ridiculous that the software has to be obtained in such an odd way.

@narnith I'm on the site right now - 7.0.741 is in General Release while 7.5.760 is under the Early Release section. I agree with you about wanting to upgrade, we use 7.5 at my company too.
I will upgrade later today, I was under the impression the 7.0 version did not work with some builds of the SonicWall firewall.

@olddog It seems that 7.5.773 is the latest version now - it's what being offered at the sonicwall demo site and is what my company now requires. Any plans on updating the source? I can give you the binary if you want.

I contacted Dell Support Tuesday the 28th of October - haven't heard a thing back yet.
I suspect this is because this is a 'free download' product that has unlimited licensing and no direct support (which shows, yet again, that the Open Source community can be more effective that corporate support schemes). So I'm at a standstill - no license file, no answer from Dell. Suggestions?
olddog commented on 2014-10-28 13:51 (UTC)
Unfortunately, a license description file is not included in the archive or within the embedded jar file. I will contact Dell.
Tiedemann commented on 2014-10-27 17:43 (UTC)
I asked on a chat session with Dell if they would add it on their site (the current link redirects to mysonicwall.com for the latest release) and they said it would be available in the future.
Maybe it would be an idea to have a wiki page for it while we wait?
This package worked for me, but I didn't get the one from mysonicwall.com to work earlier cause I didn't know what else I had to install. I'm an Arch/Linux noob though.

In case of changes/updates to
ppp
, you will need to re-runchmod -v u+s /usr/sbin/pppd
.
