@jose1711: thank you for troubling, i suppose the matter has to do with 2D graphics processing from the xorg.freedesktop.org git repository. I'll try to dig that direction.

@jose1711: thanks, now the 'search' gives correct locations and 'my places' are stored and displayed after restart. Though panoramio pics still aren't depicted in the pop-up windows.

I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.
