I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

if someone succedes to use the arch libs (see var in the PKGBUILD) and obtaining a working google-earth, let me know :|

<deleted-account> commented on 2010-09-27 00:41 (UTC)

How about a new modified PKGBUILD? Thanks.

@gt_swagger nothing ;) glad to have been useful @ottoa I didn't understand where you have to put your "patch"

OttoA commented on 2010-09-24 18:10 (UTC)

To be precise, the plugins are the culprit here - libQtWebkit crashes on loading them. So here is my submission for the crudest patch of the year award: sudo sed -bi "s:plugins:FAILins:g" libQtWebKit.so.4 export MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=/var/empty export QTWEBKIT_PLUGIN_PATH=/var/empty export MOZILLA_HOME=/var/empty Now GE starts without crashing on startup

OttoA commented on 2010-09-24 17:15 (UTC)

For those who experience crashes at the startup-tip and the picture display, the problem lies with libWebkit I think. Strace suggests that the .so file shipped from google is loadad, so it is difficult to pin down exactly what is going wrong.

D'oh! Sorry, I meant Berseker. I was disgusted I couldn't get it to work on Intel and in a hurry. :)

@gt_swagger are you sure you're not confusing me with Berseker? ;)
