Apparently Google Earth crash is suddenly a thing of the past for me. I suspect that it was solved by the QT update to version 4.7.

I used kdemod and have switched back to the Arch Linux repos.
It fixes the crash at startup :)
Now it crashes at exit ...

@luspi I used to do that, but anyway some things in the GE interface never showed up, and other really annoying problems... I have downgrade it to 5.0.11337.1968-1, it works awesome
luspi commented on 2010-09-29 17:01 (UTC)
It works here (Intel Graphic Chip)!! You just have to be quick in disabling the startup tips, then it doesn't crush.

applied the patch submitted by OttoA, but it continues to crash at startup

Have successfully built and launched 5.2.1.1588 on ATI x1250.
- the problem of non-reflecting images in pop-up windows is solved
- 'my places' saved from previous version were displaced somewhat southwards (LC_NUMERIC=C would not solve the matter)
- got Sig11 crash when openning pop-up windows (Xorg.0.log hasn't recorded anything)

If none of owners of ati cards eager to try the 5.2 version with a modified build I'll try to launch it tonight. I have an old x1250 with an open-source gallium driver.

I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to
