It's "git://anongit.kde.org/k3b" - not "git://git.kde.org/k3b". That's the reason for the timeout.

I'd propose a better build() http://aur.pastebin.com/vmYr3RfC :) (update package() accordingly) (sorry for the 3 posts - I deleted the other 2- but AUR gave me an error each time)
