Adding KSMBD-MODULE as dependency was a poor idea, for all users not using the latest kernel...

When using i.e. the recommended kernel 5.15.nn there is no "provides KSMBD-MODULE" . This requires changing to 5.19 kernel to fullfil the dependency :(

Great, it works now, thanks!

Yes, it's because I didn't bump the pkgrel as I didn't think it would affect the final package, but in retrospect, it does

Thanks for adding it! I can't get paru to see the update from here though, it keeps saying that the PKGBUILD is up to date, even though it has obviously changed. Maybe a pkgrel bump is needed? Sorry, I'm not too knowledgeable on the AUR's workings myself. Of course I can just reinstall it, but it would be cool if other users that might be interested in this could get an update now when using an AUR helper without having to wait for an upstream version change.

The wsdd and wsdd2 AUR packages both work with ksmbd, but they depend on samba. If this package provided samba both would work without any modifications. The Debian wsdd2 package (https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/wsdd2) does something similar, by depending on either ksmbd-tools or samba.

There's currently a pretty serious bug in this which prevents ksmbd.addshare from working properly. It has been fixed here: https://github.com/namjaejeon/ksmbd-tools/commit/a47af62bc4c7e8e486b318347cee03e40b0ea40b

I just made a meta package ksmbd-module-meta. It depends on linux and provides KSMBD-MODULE.

@XeCycle Interesting, I did not know that. It should have been mentioned in the changelog indeed

XeCycle commented on 2022-01-26 02:57 (UTC)

3.4.4 requires kernel >= 5.16.3, not released as of today. Wait for some time before upgrading! Ref: https://github.com/cifsd-team/ksmbd-tools/issues/227#issuecomment-1019602745

@enihcam Indeed, but it's up to a Trusted User

Also linux should provide KSMBD-MODULE
