The "chaotic-aur" co-maintainer is a bot that pulls any merged PR in https://github.com/chaotic-aur/pkgbuild-proton-ge-custom-bin back to this package. So if you guys have contributions or bump versions earlier than the maintainer, please share them as PRs. The commits will keep your authorship.

Happy gaming!

@maruja You will have to make a clean build, since upstream has used the same filename although it is technicaly not the same version of GE. That means that your aur helper (probably pamac) used a cached file to build but its not the correct one. Next time upstream will release a hotfix in this manner, the filename will change so this will not happen again. ;)

For now, open a terminal and issue the following command before updating.

$ pamac clean

currently the build does not work on manjaro with error message:

ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check! https://pastebin.com/pYG6Z30S

MD5 used in PKGBUILD: md5sums=('f7776f27404237ff1bd4d234e805b8f0' 'd3bf8e07cc46d381d5a31f204e01c592')

2020-07-06: This package currently follows "proton-ge-5-stable" upstream branch. If you want a more up-to-date release, take a look at proton-ge-custom-bin, which follows "proton-ge-5-MF" branch and will also include pre-releases.

That version has esync/fsync enabled, which can be a massive FPS boost. If you read the release notes about the 5.9-st version, it is based on 5.9, but has many/all of the new important patches backported, so I wouldn't call it a downgrade.

@miss_barfin: As the release notes state: "From here I've created yet another branch -- proton-ge-5-stable, which I hope to backport future fixes to, and bump up once Wine gets all of its current kinks resolved. The proton-ge-5-MF branch will continue to be the upstream git branch, with major game fixes being backported to the stable branch (hopefully)."

Let us follow the proton-ge-5-MF branch here with latest releases - also unstable ones as we did in the past - and follow proton-ge-5-stable with proton-ge-custom-stable-bin.

The latest version right now (5.9-st) seems more like a downgrade I'm not sure if I should update this package to that version right now

@tb0n3

very true, as there was an issue with version change before. Symlinking isn't neccessary, though. i would change the vdf if works as projected by you - so can you please verify by test that same naming in the vdf works across version changes?
