@danshick it's not a matter of rush but xiota pointed you the bugs almost 2 months ago, which is a pretty reasonable time to define the package is not well maintained

@muflone, I've gone ahead and made the requested changes to this package, but I don't agree that either of these changes are important enough to necessitate some urgent action on the part of the maintainer.

Is a failure to make timely metadata corrections actually grounds for considering a package orphaned when it is entirely functional?

An orphan request is different from flagging a package as out of date. You may be confusing an orphan request with a package marked out of date for more than 180 days as automatically considered orphaned. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AUR_submission_guidelines#Requests

A VCS package that builds correctly is not considered out of date, and the Arch Wiki specifically calls this out https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_User_Repository#Flagging_packages_out-of-date

Neither the stale optional dependency or the version prefix causes practical issues for this package, but I agree they should be fixed. I'll do so when I have time, but generally, I avoid making non-functional changes to working software.

AUR submission guidelines specify two weeks without response from maintainers as a reasonable time frame for orphan requests. You did not respond to the previous comment for over a month. If you do not have time to update packages, you should consider disowning them.

@xiota, please do not flag VCS packages as out of date. This package is still perfectly functional despite both of the issues you mentioned.

I will be sure to fix both when I have time.

  • Please remove the non-existent package from optdepends.

  • Please update pkgver() to remove v prefix in accordance with VCS package guidelines.

Fixed the dep for libinih and added optional deps for wofi, bemenu, slurp, and grim. Removed the optional dep on libpipewire02 because it isn't needed anymore.

Considering removing the obs-xdg-portal optional dep because it isn't actually adding functionality to xdpw, only to obs in order to use xdp-based screencasting. If there's no opposition, I'll probably remove it next time this needs to be updated.
