I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

I already tried all that, none helped. Sigh...

Det commented on 2011-01-03 21:38 (UTC)

Well can't you just _choose_ a better font in: 'Options' -> '3D View' tab (the first one) -> 'Choose 3D Font'? Or just try changing the system Qt font in KDE System Settings?

SanskritFritz commented on 2011-01-03 21:23 (UTC)

Deleting all config files didnt help either. :(

Det commented on 2011-01-03 17:11 (UTC)

~/.config/Google/GoogleEarthPlus.conf E: @Madek, (lib32-)libxrender is also a dependency of Google Earth. You should include that too.

I'll try to delete all configs. What directories should be deleted besides ~/.googleearth ?

SanskritFritz commented on 2011-01-03 14:23 (UTC)

@Det, I already have it installed. GE5 looked ok, I think it used the same font?

Det commented on 2011-01-03 14:00 (UTC)

@SanskritFritz, did you try installing 'ttf-bitstream-vera'?

SanskritFritz commented on 2011-01-02 23:47 (UTC)

The fonts are ugly. In GE5 there was a solution with the qt libs, that doesnt seem to work in GE6. Any solution?

Oh, and 'lib32-nvidia-utils' and 'lib32-catalyst-utils' should indeed be mentioned in the optional dependencies (as done with bin32-google-earth) since majority of the users require them. Additionally I had a typo there that the file "googleearth-x86-64" should actually be "googleearth-x86_64" ("$CARCH" returns either "i686" or "x86_64"). There was also some tweaking with the "_use_system_libs" variable and 'lib32-gcc-libs' was missing from the i686 dependencies ('gcc-libs' is included in 'base-devel'). Here's the whole thing as a single tarball: http://www49.zippyshare.com/v/88017609/file.html
