I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

Is there going to be an update any time soon?

If someone finds a way to beutify the UI please post here. I have done various experiments but I'm still unsuccessful to find a way to do this.

solstice: I don't know that for sure and I found it cleaner than to do it that way than to do it in the install script. I wouldn't be surprised if google used this in some other products.

@0ttoA: I find that a package just for a symlink is a little too much. Especially if the only package using it is and will be google-earth.

You can try this version: https://github.com/downloads/OttoAllmendinger/aur-packages/google-earth-6.0.0.1735-1.src.tar.gz it depends on the ld-lsb package here: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=44043

@zephiros: not really google earth 6 then, is it?

<deleted-account> commented on 2010-11-30 18:14 (UTC)

Copy old (5.2) googleearth-bin to /opt/google-earth/ and google earth 6 work fine

@banana See my comments. This seems to allow it to start at least: sudo ln -s /lib/ld-linux.so.2 /lib/ld-lsb.so.3 Which is some linux-standard-base stuff. I wouldn't put it in the package just yet. The browser-related crashes seem to be gone, but it is still unstable and doesn't display panoramino pictures (for me at least)

I think the answer lies here: http://earth.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=40901 Linux Builds:Google Earth Linux binaries are now based on the Linux Standard Base. This improves the compatibility of Google Earth on different Linux distributions, but requires users to have Linux Standard Base installed on their system. If your Linux system does not have LSB, please install it using apt, yum, smart or up2date. As a side effect of moving to LSB, joysticks are currently unsupported.

What the hell's up with Google earth on Linux. First it won't install normally so you have to extract it, rename a file and run setup.sh manually. Then it just says this: /usr/bin/googleearth: line 26: /opt/google-earth/googleearth-bin: No such file or directory /usr/bin/googleearth: line 26: /opt/google-earth/googleearth-bin: Success But it DOES exist, as shown in the comment bellow (and my machine). It's like this in 6.0 too, is it brokenon all distros, or just arch?
