PSA: In case your build errors out because of libplacebo: Either change --enable-vulkan to --disable-vulkan, or install libplacebo-git from AUR with --asdeps flag, then add 'libplacebo-git' to the dependencies in the PKGBUILD yourself.

Another option would be a mpv-build-full-git package. Like https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mpv-build-git/ but with all libs.

@qmega Yes, it really makes sense, but this situation in upstream mpv is really uncomfortable, as it completely broke our builds. Currently it is not compiling with ffmpeg-git. It builds only with ffmpeg-mpv-git. There is a new upstream option --enable-ffmpeg-upstream, but it's currently not working and it seems to be taking a while to work (https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/5066). So I propose another solution, at least for a while: I will modify ffmpeg-mpv-git to be installed in another directory, just like Arch repository ffmpeg2.8 does. This makes sense since ffmpeg-mpv-git is intended to be used with mpv only. It does not conflict with other ffmpeg builds that might be installed. It would allow users to retain their chosen ffmpeg build and still have ffmpeg-mpv-git in order to use it with mpv-full-git and mpv-git. We would need to adjust building in mpv to point to the path where ffmpeg-mpv-git is installed.

The code surrounding the ffmpeg check has changed again, and your patch no longer applies. Here's the one I'm using: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/allow-upstream-ffmpeg.patch?h=mpv-git Also, do you think it makes sense for ffmpeg-mpv-git to provide ffmpeg-git? That would allow mpv-git and this package to depend on ffmpeg-git, which may be necessary since the ffmpeg release in Arch's repos is not new enough for mpv's current requirements.
