The file conflicts are expected for the time being... Hooks are migrated to mkinitcpio. This will be resolved with mkinitcpio 38 and what ever cryptsetup and systemd packages are pushed at that time.

The package produced by the current PKGBUILD has file conflicts with cryptsetup and systemd: kinitcpio-git: /usr/lib/initcpio/hooks/encrypt exists in filesystem (owned by cryptsetup-git) mkinitcpio-git: /usr/lib/initcpio/hooks/udev exists in filesystem (owned by systemd-git) mkinitcpio-git: /usr/lib/initcpio/install/encrypt exists in filesystem (owned by cryptsetup-git) mkinitcpio-git: /usr/lib/initcpio/install/sd-encrypt exists in filesystem (owned by cryptsetup-git) mkinitcpio-git: /usr/lib/initcpio/install/systemd exists in filesystem (owned by systemd-git) mkinitcpio-git: /usr/lib/initcpio/install/udev exists in filesystem (owned by systemd-git) These are not resolved, even if I switch to the non-git versions of systemd and cryptsetup.

Hi, could you add binutils to depends or optdepends? objcopy is needed since https://github.com/archlinux/mkinitcpio/pull/53

Also, official packages linux{,-hardened,-lts,-zen} now require initramfs instead of mkinitcpio [1]. Could you also add initramfs to provides?

Hi, could you change the source URL to https://github.com/archlinux/mkinitcpio or https://gitlab.archlinux.org/mkinitcpio/mkinitcpio? You know, projects.archlinux.org is gone [1].

By the way, the one on GitHub seems more up-to-date than the one on GitLab.

I'm new to the Arch scene and I'm not really sure how to file an issue. But there's a typo in /usr/lib/initcpio/hooks/encrypt where "parameter" is misspelled.

cat /usr/lib/initcpio/hooks/encrypt | grep paramater

I'm not sure if this is generated by mkinitcpio or another package. If I knew how, I'd make a pull request to change it. But a comment seems like the next best thing.

@Eschwartz pkgname=mkinitcpio-git pkgver=23.r2.g91b2125 pkgrel=1 What's wrong there? I tried to temporarily fix it by editing PKGBUILD, but I'm not sure what happens.

eschwartz commented on 2017-08-28 18:51 (UTC)

This package cannot be installed as-is (and I don't believe it ever could), since it doesn't provide mkinitcpio=$pkgver-$pkgrel and every single kernel package in the repos throws a conflict e.g. :: linux: removing mkinitcpio breaks dependency 'mkinitcpio>=0.7'

pacman -U linux-drm-tip-git-r694381.5cd16b6da7da-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz linux-drm-tip-git-headers-r694381 .5cd16b6da7da-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz loading packages... resolving dependencies... looking for conflicting packages... :: mkinitcpio and mkinitcpio-git are in conflict. Remove mkinitcpio-git? [y/N] Why?
