Hmm, well I went ahead and downloaded the tarball and tried it again with makepkg but it still occurs.

No problems here, and you should not have a 'fontinst.exe' file anywhere. Try using a clean directory and avoid AUR helpers, using makepkg directly.

There is a problem with the current PKGBUILD, it seems cabextract errors when trying to extract 'fontinst.exe' causing everything to break. Removing the file before the for loop seems to fix this.

Err... none. I don't now how that happened; I'm sure I didn't install ttf-ms-fonts by hand. Was this package moved from the repos into AUR? Anyway, it's solved now. Thanks for the hint! ;-)

Which package prodives the file on your system? (pacman -Qo /usr/share/fonts/TTF/andalemo.ttf)

gauthma commented on 2011-08-07 19:38 (UTC)

Isn't the PKGBUILD missing a provides= or conflitcs= line? I ask this because when upgrading, I get a bunch of messages like so: error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) ttf-ms-fonts: /usr/share/fonts/TTF/andalemo.ttf exists in filesystem

e.g. an http server doesn't need Xorg, but could use fonts :)

birdflesh commented on 2011-04-16 12:43 (UTC)

I preferred xorg-font-utils since this is what most ttf packages in extra/community use. Personally, I wouldn't even add xorg-font-utils, since it's an indirect dependency of xorg-server and should be available on any system needing fonts (for example ttf-dejavu does not depend on it). Thanx for this, but I'm leaving it this way for now.

ilpianista commented on 2011-04-16 12:22 (UTC)

IMHO That's not the way. You should explicitly add xorg-mkfontscale and xorg-mkfontdir.

birdflesh commented on 2011-04-16 11:22 (UTC)

Ok I'm (re)adding xorg-font-utils as a dependency (that would satisfy both xorg-mkfontscale and xorg-mkfontdir)
